What Is Flowing Screed?
Flowing screed is a liquid, self-levelling concrete material used to create smooth, even floor surfaces quickly and accurately. It comes in two main types – cementitious and anhydrite – each offering excellent strength and a high-quality finish.
Unlike traditional screed, flowing screed is installed using specialist pumping equipment, allowing for fast, efficient placement across large or complex areas. At Trent, we use reliable pumping solutions suited to all site conditions, ensuring consistent results on every project.

Flowing Screed Features & Benefits
All Flowing Screeds
All flowing screeds have the following properties
- Fast installation: Up to 1,000m² per day, offering major programme and time savings.
- Reduced thickness: Lower design depths compared to traditional screeds, helping optimise structural efficiency.
- Quality assured materials: Supplied by approved, third-party accredited manufacturers for consistent performance and reliability.
- Improved safety: Reduced manual handling and labour requirements enhance on-site health and safety.
- Underfloor heating efficiency: Excellent thermal conductivity for faster heat response and energy efficiency.
- Thin-section options: Available for projects requiring minimal floor build-up.
Cementitious Flowing Screeds
Additional benefits to using Cementitious Flowing Screeds
- Fast drying: Ready for floor finishes typically within 21 days; rapid-drying options available for tighter programmes.
- Finish compatibility: Fully compatible with all common floor coverings.
- Low maintenance: No sanding or laitance removal required before finishing
- Can be used indoors and outdoors: though most commonly used indoors.
Anhydrite Flowing Screeds
Additional features of Anhydrite Flowing Screeds
- Indoor use only: Highly moisture sensitive. Can only be used in dry, enclosed environments.
- Sustainable choice: Excellent environmental profile with a high recycled material content.
- Cost-effective: Lower overall installation costs when properly programmed.
- Ideal for large areas: Particularly suited to extensive pours or flood applications, ensuring uniform, high-quality finishes.
Flowing Screed Applications
Flowing screed is ideal for concrete flooring projects where large floor areas demand speed, consistency and efficiency. Because it can be pumped into hard to access areas, and is self-levelling, flowing screed is far quicker to install than traditional hand-laid materials and creates a smooth, durable surface with minimal labour.
It is also well suited to underfloor heating, where even heat distribution and comfort are critical requirements.
The Trent team utilises our own specialist liquid floor screed pumping equipment to streamline installation and ensure a perfectly smooth and consistent finish. Pumping solutions are available for all site requirements, includingpumping into hard-to-reach areas. And we’re always equipped to work in potentially awkward spaces.

Cement-Based and Anhydrite Flowing Screeds from Leading Manufacturers
At Trent, we install both of the two main types of flowing screeds – cement-based and anhydrite (calcium sulphate).
Cement-based products, such as Cemfloor, Longfloor, and Tarmac Screed C, are versatile, fast-drying, and moisture-tolerant, making them suitable for use on both ground and upper floors.
Anhydrite screeds, including Gyvlon (Anhydritec) and Gypsol (LKAB), are highly fluid and can be used at a thinner depth, making them ideal for upper floors and modular systems like Lewis Deck.
